Mount Rainier National Park is located in the west-central portion of Washington state and is about 2-3 hours from Seattle, Tacoma, Yakima and Portland.

Directions to the NW / Carbon River Area

From Seattle to Enumclaw:

  • Take I-5 South to Exit 142B
  • Take SR 18 E to SR 164E to SR 410 in Enumclaw

From Portland / Olympia / Tacoma to Enumclaw:

  • Take Exit 127 off I-5 to SR 512 E
  • Take SR 512 E to SR 410 E
  • Take SR 410 E to Enumclaw

From Enumclaw to Carbonado / Wilkeson (9 mi):

  • Take SR 410 W to SR 165 S to Carbonado/Wilkeson
  • Follow SR 165 S to Carbon River and Mount Rainier

Directions to the NE / Sunrise Area

From Seattle / Olympia / Tacoma to Greenwater / Crystal Mountain / Sunrise:

  • Follow directions to Enumclaw
  • Take SR 410 East towards Mount Rainier
  • Greenwater is on SR 410 and Crystal Mountain is off SR 410 on Crystal Mountain Road
  • Continue into Mt. Rainier National Park through the White River Entrance, 14 miles to Sunrise Road

From Yakima to Greenwater/Crystal Mountain/Sunrise:

  • Take US 12 W to SR 410
  • Take SR 410 W over Chinook Pass to Sunrise Road
  • Take side trip on Crystal Mountain Road
  • Continue west on SR 410 to Greenwater

BETWEEN NOVEMBER AND MAY, CHECK WSDOT FOR CHINOOK PASS AVAILABILITY

  • If not available follow Enumclaw directions to SR 410 E

From Portland to Greenwater / Crystal Mountain/Sunrise:

  • Take Exit 68 off of I-5 East on US 12 to Packwood
  • Continue on US 12 E to SR 123
  • Take SR 123 North to Cayuse Pass and SR 410
  • Follow SR 410 WEST to Sunrise Road
  • Take side trip to Crystal Mountain Road
  • Continue west on SR 410 to Greenwater

BETWEEN DECEMBER AND APRIL, CHECK WSDOT FOR CAYUSE PASS AVAILABILITY

  • If not available follow Enumclaw directions to SR 410 E

Directions to the SW / Sunrise Area

From Seattle to Elbe / Ashford:

  • Take I-5 South to Exit 127 off I-5 to SR 512 E
  • Take SR 512 E to SR 7
  • Head South on 7 to Elbe and SR 706
  • Take SR 706 E to Ashford

From Tacoma / Olympia to Elbe / Ashford:

  • Take Exit 127 off I-5 to SR 512 E
  • Take SR 512 E to SR 7
  • Head South on 7 to Elbe and SR 706
  • Take SR 706 E to Ashford

From Portland to Elbe / Ashford:

  • Take I-5 North to US 12, Exit 68
  • Take 12 E to Morton and SR 7
  • Take SR 7 North to Elbe and SR 706
  • Take SR 706 East to Ashford

Ashford to Longmire / Paradise:

  • Follow SR 706 E towards Mount Rainier

Directions to the SE / White Pass Area

From Seattle / Tacoma / Olympia to Morton / Randle / Packwood / White Pass:

  • Take I-5 South to Exit 68, US 12
  • Continue East to Morton / Randle / Packwood / White Pass

Alternate Route from Seattle / Tacoma / Olympia to Morton / Randle / Packwood / White Pass:

  • Follow directions to Elbe
  • Take SR 7 South to Morton and US 12
  • Take US 12 East to Randle and Packwood

Alternate Route from Seattle to Packwood (May through November):

  • Follow directions to Enumclaw and SR 410 E
  • Take SR 410 E to Cayuse Pass and SR 123
  • Take SR 123 South to US 12
  • Take US 12 West to Packwood/White Pass

Alternate Route from Tacoma / Olympia to Packwood (May through November):

  • Follow directions to Ashford and 706E
  • Take FS Road 52 to Packwood/White Pass

From Portland to Morton / Randle / Packwood / White Pass:

  • Take I-5 North to US 12, Exit 68

From Yakima to Packwood:
