A great alternative to the more busy trails of Mt. Rainier National Park, enjoy the stunning beauty and quiet solitude of the Glacier View Wilderness. Begin the trail on Trail No. 249 to Lake Christine, traversing abut one mile to this pretty lake setting in a meadow. Moving past the lake, continue 1/2 mile and keep on the lookout for an unmarked trail junction. At this junction turn left and trek 1/2 mile to the top of Mount Beljica at 5479-feet. Enjoy awe-inspiring views, with the Tahoma Glacier so close it seems you could touch it.
From Ashford, drive 3.8 miles on State Route 706 and turn left on Copper Creek Road, also known as Forest Service Road No. 59. (The sign for Road 59 is just before Copper Creek Inn and the 11-mile marker on 706.) After 3.4 miles keep left at a road junction. In five miles, turn right on Road No. 5920 and continue another 1.5 miles to the Lake Christine trailhead.
